I spent a lot of time, over my twenties and early thirties, in Ireland, and I loved it very much. For various reasons, I haven’t been back since then. Certainly not since the “Tiger Boom” and the subsequent/predictable bust. When I was there, Western Ireland was still relatively poor.
Oddly enough (and looking on Facebook recently) every other Facebook friend seems to be hauling him/herself and the family off to Ireland or Scotland this Summer. They keep asking about WHAT TO SEE/DO, but I’m of very little use, since Dublin (like Paris and London) is a big town which I’ve often been to…..but only before leaving on a morning train to go out into the provinces/country. Urban R Not Us.
