“A Wider View”. pastel, pencil, and Watercolor, 2018
I paid my rent, settled my bills, and even established a new internet provider this morning. Then, I painted this…..thinking all the while of one of my favorite poems by Wordsworth. I remember first falling in love with the poem when I was about 15 and heard it recited on PBS.
.”My Heart Leaps Up”
William Wordsworth, 1770 – 1850
“My heart leaps up when I behold
A rainbow in the sky:
So was it when my life began;
So is it now I am a man;
So be it when I shall grow old,
Or let me die!
The Child is father of the Man;
And I could wish my days to be
Bound each to each by natural piety.”
