Nobody needs me to say that Madison Smart Bell is a wonderful writer.
As for the picture?…all I can do, 12 years after drawing it, is to think “Good Lord**….BAD ATTITUDE**….”. This is a portrait of exactly the sort of guy you DON’T want your little sister to be dating.
The original of the illustration was bought and now lives in San Francisco. What a surprise……?
