This picture went (and sold, quite handily) to a fundraising auction for the AIDS Services Alliance of NC back in 2002. I recall thinking, at the time I finished it, that I’d finally achieved my goal, in regard to making pictures for this particular demographic, of making a picture that would appeal to the largest number of North Carolina gay men while simultaneously NOT being something you had to haul down off the wall everytime Mama came up from Duplin county for a vist to Raleigh…..
That particular artistic strategy worked well.
